EMPLOYMENT HISTORY
2008-Present
Senior Structured Investment Product Dealer
Following my move from process improvement I have greatly enjoyed the role of product manager for my current employer and have contributed to the expansion of the traditional business to be able to offer bespoke investment opportunities to low volume or single high net worth customers which were only previously done with much deliberation into a process that has seen these investments go from concept to a taken deposit in as little as two business days without increasing any risk profile. From this business development and my understanding of treasury functions I was also invited on to the Investment Products and Offers Committee offering a treasury insight on possible new products and processes involving structured products. Additionally I have been heavily involved with creating all marketing literature required for structured products which whilst always having been traditionally completed by this role, since my appointment has seen a complete revision of the process making the process more linear and time efficient. On a day to day basis my responsibilities consist of managing interest rates applied to currency accounts and special interest conditions when required for bespoke clients/business requirements.
2007-2008
Process Improvement Manager
After completing six months training and work placements within lean workstreams I have since enjoyed participation of a massive variety of projects and improvement programs across the world. All project work I have undertaken was measured on multiple levels including efficiency, cost and timeliness from which I have a consistent positive achievement record. At midyear review 2008 my cost savings alone were in excess of £90,000 including recovery of lost charges from corporate clients. In order to effectively manage these elements over the course of the projects that often overlapped it has been required that I spent over 50% of 2007 & 2008 working from remote business units in the Isle of Man and mainland UK proving again that I am willing and able to be flexible with my working arrangements in order to achieve the required results. This travelling has required me to be completely self managed over the duration of the role and achieve good results. The final months of this role observed another change to my daily role supporting and encouraging staff development towards continuous improvement including supporting students on project work sponsored by the local government and a world renown oil company to which their projects received commendations by the judges. In addition to my normal workload during 2008 I was also offered a placement on the Emerging Leaders Talent scheme which run up until the end of September 2008 and consisted of a variety of smaller projects that need to be completed before finally presenting the results to the executive committee at an event closing evening.
2005-2007
Settlements Officer
During my time in the treasury settlements department I advanced my knowledge further of domestic and international payments and procedures to a point where I consider myself one of the most knowledgeable people within the local organisation with regards to payments, our systems capabilities and procedures. I have an in depth knowledge of the banking system used and am considered a subject matter expert by other users. My time was regularly taken up answering complex queries which I have enjoyed very much, and always achieving positive results. Time keeping as well as accurate information exchange was another important building block of the settlements department and during my placement there I was always flexible when any team or person required any assistance. Finally within this role becoming the currency internet banking specialist within the new payment centre model and assisting with the setting up and testing of the revised currency internet banking.
2002-2005
Money Broker
A internationally based and operated financial product provider with many worldwide operations all dealing directly to private customers, fellow financial institutions and corporate clients such as banks and trust companies. The Jersey office consisted of three dealers including myself, with our focus being on money market trading and retail money placement between Jersey based institutions and other Channel Island and internationally based financial institutions.
My primary tasks here include the placement of money market trades to both cash and commercial clients. This should then outline that communication skills must have been of the utmost both within the company and foreign counterparts, via personal meetings, telephone/fax and electronic means. Time keeping was also very important as is very meticulous day and diary planning. Professionalism towards trading must have always been at its best; otherwise it will prove very costly to both client relations and our office personally for mistakes to be made. Toward the end of the companies local presence the operation became more retail structured, placing large deposit amounts or corporate money to our contacts, be them local or abroad. Further to this it was always expected of me to proficiently manage all IT and network facilities, including VPN (Virtual Private Network) with our London offices and be able to manage office books (accounts) to external audit and money laundering standards including all K.Y.C requirements.
2002-2002
Middle Office Specialist
During my limited time (6 months) in this position my main responsibility was the overseeing and placing of trades between the bonds and equity department and the treasury dealers as a result of the sale or purchase of investment products. This also required anti-money laundering training and procedures and my introduction to Bloomberg shortly followed by in house training by Bloomberg. Other duties I performed was further archiving and advanced record searching and placing market orders concerning bonds and equities to both brokers and London offices confirming payment details and FOREX product activation. It often was the case that I would be answering queries from multiple departments with reference to Bloomberg enquiries, corporate client information, bank client information, bond & equities valuation including trade volumes/details, ingoing and outgoing payments for trades, brokerage agreements and settlement.
2002-2002
General Assistant
On my return to Jersey from Australia I immediately began work again at the same tech supplier as I was working for before my departure and while I looked for more suitable employment.
2001-2002
Attended Commercial College in Brisbane, Australia
2000-2001
General Assistant
This position was both fulfilling and an opportunity to expand my working knowledge base further in the IT field, which I hold a personal interest in. In actual fact the post was held for the first quarter of 2001 until it was decided that I would continue education overseas (Brisbane, Australia).
1997-2000
Money Broker
A private company primarily offering money broking services to the finance Industry in Jersey, Guernsey and the Isle of Man.
At the brokers, my primary objective was dealing with cash deposit monies mainly from local banks but also including London and many other major banking centres often of the commercial variety. Whilst my employment continued with the brokers and staff levels decreased during the closing of Jersey operations, my responsibilities became much more varied, to the point of being the sole employee on the premises during dealing. A brief overview of other duties performed include, client hospitality and back office support to a degree which surpassed being able to initiate and finalise deals to all office filing/archive work, client telexing, Reuters systems operation (including Reuters Dealing) and payment details checking database maintenance.
